Voyant Tutorial

with No Comments

This tutorial was one that I had hoped to use with an Intro to Digital Humanities unit for a Literary Topics class, but what happens when 35 students try to reveal the entire Jane Austen text corpus? Voyant crashes. This is something that I’ve become entirely comfortable with–things not working, or amazing open source tools, originally meant for a single user, becoming inaccessible because web traffic stunts the process.

Also, Java made this more difficult than it should have been, but the students were cautiously setting lego pieces to “Allow and Remember,” and that was eventually overcome.

The uploading process went smoothly for about 25 of the students in the class, but then stopped working for the rest.
